Martisor- The romanian celebration of spring at 1st march

Here in Romania we have a special custom for 1st march. According with an ancient tradition (with roots back 8,000 years ) at this date we are wearing a red and withe string with a talisman that can be a simbolic decoration object or can be a jewelry brooch. Some persons are  wearing this pinned on coats or clothes one week others ones until the end of the month.
In modern times, and especially in urban areas, the Mărțișor lost most of its talisman properties and became more of a symbol of friendship or love, appreciation and respect and if someone gives you “Martisor” like a present you have all reasons to be happy.
