1st March, Romanian Mărţişor

What is Mărţişor? Well it does`t have a correspondent in English because is a Romanian custom and tradition.

Mărţişor is a little piece of jewelry or other small made by hand object, that can be used like a brooch and accompanied with a red and white silk string. It is offered by men to women, by boys to the girls, or girls like to exchange it between.

It represent a sign of appreciation and attention for the person you are given.

Celebrated always at 1st March and only in Romania.

You can see my previous post about it from last years here Martisor- The romanian celebration of spring at 1st march

For this year  I made a red bird out of taffeta.

Have a beautiful spring!

It’s adorable. I love it. Both very ancient and very modern. Connects me with the Dacians in a strange sort of way. I hope you have a fantastic spring Adelina!
